American Friends of British Art is a 501(c)(3), tax-exempt, nonprofit charity dedicated to preserving and restoring historic art and architecture in Great Britain. Founded in 2003, American Friends of British Art seeks to preserve all varieties of historic art including murals, paintings, sculptures, architecture and religious structures.

Between 1875 and 1975 over 2,000 historic castles, manors and other structures were destroyed in Great Britain. Some were destroyed accidentally or during the War years, but many were intentionally destroyed due to the burden of their maintenance. Since intentional destruction is no longer allowed, these extraordinary examples of artistic genius continue to live on, but many are in a state of peril due to the high costs of their upkeep and preservation.

Funds raised by American Friends of British Art are sent to ongoing restoration projects across Great Britain, and will help to save these artistic treasures so that they may continue to inspire generations of individuals for hundreds of years to come.

“Art, like nothing else, has the ability to unite people of all ages, cultures, and religious groups through its beauty and inspiration. We all have an obligation to preserve something this powerful.”
